About
This is a Clarkston-sponsored event held at MI Revolution Training Center in Highland. It is a dual format and we intend to take two teams. This is an excellent opportunity to see the dual-format in action, even if your wrestler is not competing. It will take place at 10:00AM on Sunday, February 11, 2023. Doors open at 8:30AM and mat audits/skin checks begin at 9:00AM.
Wrestle offs
If you are interested in wrestling off for a spot on either of the teams, please let Joe Berden know. If any weight class has more than 2 wrestlers, we will hold a wrestle off during practices (Intermediate 2/Advanced and Middle School) on Monday, February 5, 2024. If your wrestler wins their wrestle off, they will be on the B-Team automatically but have the option to challenge the A-Team wrestler. If needed, we will finish wrestle offs on Wednesday night during practices.
Volunteer Opportunities
Given that we are hosting the event, we will definitely need support from parents. There will be set up and tear down. Also, we like to do a snack table (assignments in Team Snap) for all of the athletes. It can never hurt to have some extra admin help for mat audits and scoring. If any parents have experience with sports injuries, it is also useful to have someone there to assist if there is an injury. Please let Jennifer Place know if you are willing to lend a hand.
Fees
This tournament is club-sponsored. No fees to be collected to wrestle; however, admission is $10 per family, or $5 per individual. Children 6 and under are free.
Singlet
If your athlete makes one of the teams, please make sure they wear a Clarkston singlet. If you do not have one, please connect with Coach Joe to purchase/rent one. Headgear is not required, but highly recommended. Wrestlers with braces must wear a mouth guard.
Additional information
Coolers are permitted and concessions will be available. Seating is usually limited, so it is wise to arrive early or bring a blanket or chairs for sitting mat side.
