Flyer
Click here to review the flyer for the Future Stars tournament (PLEASE NOTE IT IS ON SATURDAY) hosted by the Metro region at Henry Ford II High School. This tournament is ONLY for wrestlers who DID NOT qualify for the state tournament. Exceptions can be made for wrestlers that technically qualified for states (e.g. small bracket) but will not attend due to inexperience.
You have the option of registering your wrestler directly (preferred as it eliminates us as the middle man) or having us do the registration. If you intend for us to register your wrestler, please complete the procedure on Monday before 5PM. Weigh Ins must be complete on or before Thursday. Our ability to adjust weight classes is taken out of our hands when registration closes on Thursday.
Divisions
This event has two divisions: novice and non-qualifier. Loosely, this mirrors regular tournaments with novice and open divisions. The term non-qualifier is intended to ensure that wrestlers going to states do not attend this tournament as a “warm up.” You may not attend Future Stars if you are going to MYWAY States in Kalamazoo.
In order to compete in the novice division, you must be a first year wrestler, or have an approved novice application and did not compete at regionals.
The non-qualifier division is for wrestlers that did not qualify for states at regionals but do not meet the above qualifications to compete in the novice division. As stated above, you have the option to compete in this class if you did qualify for states but will not attend due to being too inexperienced for that level of competition.
For 2017-2019, there will only be a novice division. You must be 1st year OR have an approved novice application to participate in the Future Stars Tournament.
For 2009-2010, there will only be a non-qualifier division. Therefore, you do not have have to submit a novice application in order to compete at the Future Stars Tournament.
Registration Process
Like with other MYWAY individual tournaments, you have the option of registering your wrestler directly (preferred as it eliminates us as the middle man) or having us do the registration. If you intend for us to register your wrestler, please complete the procedure on Monday before 5PM. Otherwise, registration closes at 10PM Thursday. Weigh Ins must be complete on or before Thursday (which may mean you need to weigh in Wednesday). Our ability to adjust weight classes is taken out of our hands when registration closes on Thursday.
